Decell Technologies and Pelephone Launch “Traffic” Real-Time Traffic Information Services
TEL AVIV, November 2nd 2008 - Decell Technologies, the global leader in the provision of accurate real-time traffic information, announced today that together with Israel’s cellular operator Pelephone, it has launched “Traffic”, an innovative traffic information service.
Pelephone and Decell Technologies have been collaborating since 2004 in order to provide subscribers with a host of traffic services. The first joint service, The Fast Route Service (*20), is based on an Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system where users can find the fastest route for their destination based on current traffic conditions.
Decell has developed a revolutionary technology which monitors the location and movements of cellular phones in driving cars and calculates real-time traffic condition on the roads. Using this technology, the provision of traffic information is fast, accurate, and cost effective.
“Traffic” is the new generation of cellular traffic information services which provide various intuitive applications as well as detailed traffic maps. Registered “Traffic” users can choose between three different ways of gaining access to their relevant traffic information. First, they can access the service through their phone’s Web browser, or through a regular Internet browser where they can observe Israel's traffic maps as well as view personal information. In addition, users can receive automatic MMS or SMS messages with traffic status updates on their specific predefined route, according to their personal settings of preferred routes and usual journey times.
An additional "Traffic" service allows users to receive alerts only when irregular events are present. For example, if a car crash had occurred that resulted in unusually long delays, an automatic message will be generated to users with this predefined service.
