Decell to Launch Swift-i, a New Generation of Road Traffic Information in Israel

TEL AVIV, September 15, 2009 - Decell Technologies, the global leader in the provision of accurate real-time road traffic information based on cellular event data, is proud to announce the launch of a new generation of real-time traffic information in Israel called Swift-i.

Since the company’s inception in 1999, it has been Decell’s aim to develop and further improve its technology that would be able to automatically and accurately calculate road traffic information in real time and provide it to the public. The source of the information was planned to be based on cellular signaling data and be both cost effective and fully transparent to the providers of the raw data. In 2004, Decell started delivering its traffic information to the Israeli public through one of the country’s leading cellular operators while expanding the availability of its traffic information to include such outlets as TV, radio, and the Internet. Over the past years, several hundred thousand drivers in Israel have enjoyed the benefits of knowing in real time the traffic situation that they are about to encounter and are able to better plan their car journey according to the fastest route.

Today, Decell is proud to announce the launch of Swift-i, its newest generation of traffic information which uses the majority of vehicles on Israel’s roads at any point in time as live probes in order to collect data on current road conditions. “We took our award winning technology that takes cellular events and calculates real-time traffic information, invested heavily in its continued development, added cellular information from a second large operator, and augmented the data with information from GPS devices and GPS enabled phones as well as other external sources, such as police and driver reports that add incident data”, said Avi Peri, Decell’s CEO. “Our ten-year experience in the cellular-based traffic information arena together with our recent developments and source extension, allow Decell to become the real-time traffic information leader in Israel, providing the most comprehensive and accurate traffic information on Israel’s roads,” he added.

Over the past years, Swift-i has been integrated into a variety of information services such as the media, cellular, navigation, enterprise and government sectors, while the company is planning to further extend the number of outlets through which the general public is able to receive real-time traffic information. The company’s significant technological and commercial experience combined with the integration of customers’ and partners’ input into the development process allow Decell to become the de-facto leader in this market.

While Decell’s algorithms and statistical analysis tools are highly advanced, they do not require any field measurements of the road networks or any calibration of the system. Furthermore, the source data is received automatically and constantly without manual input. This ensures a constant and highly accurate service level. The traffic information output is delivered using standard protocols, allowing for quick and easy integration into virtually any application. Swift-i’s reliability and accuracy was independently tested and found in full compliance with the high standard and strict requirements set by the Israel National Roads Company, the nation’s public road authority.
